The Firefighters' Association of the State of Pennsylvania is coordinating a scholarship program made possible by the generosity of the contributors of Pennsylvania. The objective of the scholarship program is to assist individuals desiring to further their academic education through college level courses in the Fire Sciences or related academic programs. Two annual scholarships will be offered in each of the six sections of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as prescribed by the F.A.S.P. as follows:
One $1,000.00 Scholarship Toward a Bachelor Degree
One $500.00 Scholarship Toward an Associate Degree
If applications are not received from the respective sections as mentioned above, the un-awarded scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the committee.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
A.) Any person who is an active member of a state, county, municipal, community, industrial or federal fire department located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
B.) Children & grandchildren of deceased or living firefighters that were a member of the Firefighters' Association of the State of Pennsylvania. A person need not be a member of the State Association to submit an application.
HOW TO APPLY
Applications may be obtained by DOWNLOADING HERE, contacting an Association Officer, a member of the Scholarship Committee, writing to the address below, or email the Scholarship Committee.
Applicants must complete all sections of the application and attach a statement of approximately 250 words why they are applying for financial assistance, why they believe this course will be useful to them, and their goals and objectives.
In evaluating the applications preference will be given to those demonstrating need, desire, and initiative. Credits previously attained in college should be listed and a transcript furnished if possible. Each applicant may be subject to a personal interview by a member of the Scholarship Committee.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications must be postmarked by June 15th. Applications postmarked after June 15th will NOT be considered.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS
Applicants will be notified of their success by mail and the names of all successful applicants will be officially announced at the Annual Convention of the Firefighters' Association of the State of Pennsylvania.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS
Payment will be divided equally between the two semesters. To receive reimbursements, the following documents must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee:
1.) Evidence of satisfactory completion of semester including final grades.
2.) Paid tuition bill from the college.
3. There is an absolute postmark deadline of January 15 for the fall award and June 15 for the spring award.
**The Association reserves the right to reallocate unrequested scholarships and or funds. The number and amount of the awards may vary from year to year.
